Cork Simon Community works with students in primary, secondary and third level education. We visit primary and secondary schools and third level institutions to work with students in understanding the causes of and solutions to homelessness. Everyone has a role to play in tackling homelessness.
Our educational visits help students to build social awareness and good citizenship, and offer plenty of ideas and opportunities on how they can be part of the solution.
We have a variety of tools, activity packs, educational packs and projects that students can participate in, building their awareness of the causes of homelessness and in many cases offering students opportunities to be actively involved in tackling homelessness.
Students often organise fundraising events in their schools or colleges, or participate in fundraising events such as Christmas Jumper Day, No Uniform Days, Sleep Outs and the Santa Stamps Appeal.
We have a busy calendar of events year round to suit all ages and interests. Sleep-outs, quizzes, coffee mornings and so much more. Browse our upcoming events. Choose one that interests you. Invite your friends. Have fun and support a great cause.
Do you have an idea for a fundraiser? We’d love to hear from you. At Cork Simon we rely on supporters like you to raise funds to support our services. Contact Margaret about your fundraiser by email or call her on 021 4929 415.
Cork Simon Community also works with students in third level education. The UCC Simon Society has experienced a resurgence in recent years and takes part in an active calendar of awareness raising and fundraising.
If you would like to start a Simon Society in your University or College, please do not hesitate to contact Kerry Mac Mahon, our Community Partnerships Manager.
