We are currently recruiting for the following vacancies on our Department of Social Protection (DSP) Community Employment (C.E.) Programme:
Community Employment is an employment programme which helps long-term unemployed people to re-enter the active workforce by breaking their experience of unemployment through a return to work routine. The programme is designed to provide training and work experience to people who are unemployed with the aim of enabling progression into more regular employment. We can provide you with accredited training and development opportunities to help you achieve this aim.

C.E. Housekeeping Assistant/Cleaner.
Job Description:The role will involve carrying out cleaning, laundry and other housekeeping duties in the Homeless Emergency Support Service. Duties include: cleaning bathrooms, bedrooms, buffing floors, hallways and communal rooms; general cleaning, carrying out laundry duties when necessary. The person will be based in the Homeless Emergency Support Service, Anderson’s Quay, Cork.

C.E. Employment & Training Assistant.
The role involves assisting in the delivery of training or the upskilling of service users in preparation for work or a return to education. This will include working across all Cork Simon Community’s projects and services, creating opportunities for people to build self-confidence, social networks and facilitate interaction with the wider community. Duties include: working on a one-to-one basis with service users to identify gaps in training/education as well as employment opportunities, identifying and scheduling employment and training programmes and general administrative duties. Training will be provided to develop skills which can be used in the workplace.

C.E. Maintenance Assistant/Gardener.
The role involves assisting in the maintenance of Cork Simon Community’s premises to keep them in a good state of repair and decoration. Duties include: repairs to door locks, glazed panels and other fittings etc. as required, maintenance, repair, painting & décor of interiors of the buildings, estimating of appropriate quantities of materials, supplies and equipment required and general repairs including minor repairs to furniture & fittings. The gardening aspect will involve grass and hedge cutting, maintenance of flower beds, weeding etc.

C.E. Kitchen Assistant.
The role involves carrying out kitchen duties in Cork Simon Community’s Homeless Emergency Support Service (HESS). Duties include: assisting in the preparation and cooking of meals for residents, assisting in menu planning, serving meals and participating in kitchen and dining room cleaning duties. Training will be provided to develop skills which can be used in the workplace.

C.E. Activities Assistant.
The Activities Assistant will assist the Activities Co-ordinator in the scheduling and delivery of a varied programme of leisure and positive activities geared towards residents’ and service users’ personal development. Duties include: assist in facilitating suitable hobbies and leisure activities, assist in promoting these activities, liaising with care staff to motivate and encourage service users to partake in activities.

C.E. Administrative Support Assistant.
The role involves providing administrative support in the Homeless Emergency Support Service. Duties include: assist in generating statistics through data entry on Microsoft Excel and the Cork Simon Database, cash handling, distribution of post, filing and storing records and management of stationery supplies.
