Cork Simon is currently recruiting for the following posts: Casual Project Support Worker Purpose of this post: The Casual Project Support Worker can work in our Emergency Shelter or various high support houses. Casual Project Support Workers provide cover for staff holidays, sick leave etc. Some of the key duties of the role include: Assist with admissions to the Shelter. Carry out health & safety checks. Build a relationship with residents based on trust and respect. Induct residents into the service. Provide a welcoming and supportive environment for all residents. Assist in implementing agreed holistic support plan. Some of the key duties of the role include: Provide a safe, friendly and non-judgmental environment. Ensure the operations of the project run smoothly and in accordance with the policies and procedures of Cork Simon Community. To assist and maintain good order and organisation in the project. Night-time security and monitoring of the building and its environs. Work with the project team and residents to manage any behavioural issues that arise. Staffing the reception area, as necessary. Maintain accurate various records. Follow guidelines on managing issues with any residents as instructed by line manager. The ideal candidate for this post will have: Have previous experience in a care setting. Have strong communication and interpersonal skills. have the ability to motivate and empower people. Have a knowledge of homelessness. Have a knowledge of Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol issues and the range of responses. Have excellent numeric and written skills. Support Team Leaders and Project Workers to implement care plans and promotion of independent living skills aimed at motivating people to move on to more appropriate accommodation. Some of the key duties of the role include: On first contact identify immediate need and refer to other services where appropriate. Provide bed space in appropriate accommodation based on initial assessment / referral from other projects. Carry out Health and Safety checks and follow relevant procedures. Provide for personal hygiene / showers, clean clothes, laundry, meals, clean rooms to a high standard. Assist in implementing a programme of social activities as organised by or with residents and people using services as appropriate. Assist in implementing a programme of social activities as organised by or with residents and people using services as appropriate. Act as an advocate when appropriate. Build a relationship with residents based on trust & respect by accepting people as they are, spending time with them, actively listening and challenging them positively and proactively to make positive changes at a pace suitable to each person.
