We are currently recruiting for the following posts: Housing First Project Worker (South East Region - Waterford and Clonmel) Multi Task Attendant (Secondment to the HSE) Project Worker (Polish Speaker) Housing First Project Worker - South East Region - Waterford and Clonmel (Permanent Contract) Purpose of the post: Support people who are sleeping rough and / or experiencing long-term and multiple exclusion homelessness to move into secure, permanent housing at the earliest opportunity, without preconditions for sobriety or treatment compliance. Support people prior to, during, and following their move through Case Management and Key Working, to build their capacity to meet their goals, address their support needs, and sustain their housing. Some of the key duties of the role include: Work collaboratively with other agencies engaged in outreach and emergency accommodation services, to establish and maintain contact with people in Waterford who are sleeping rough and / or experiencing long-term and multiple exclusion homelessness. Follow-up on referrals received and through the Homeless Action Team (HAT). Advise people of the supports available through the Housing First Service and how Housing First differs from other approaches. Signpost people to more appropriate services where necessary. Assess the urgency of the person’s housing need by use of agreed tools for prioritisation. Establish what housing options will be available to the person by determining the person’s eligibility for Local Authority allocations, RS / HAP /RAS housing assistance, and Social Welfare payments, and facilitate participants in accessing same. Act as liaison with landlords, explaining lease agreements, rights and responsibilities, managing tenancies in crisis, explaining the Residential Tenancies Act as needed. Work with the tenant to devise and regularly review support plans with the understanding that the type, level and duration of support provided should be determined by the tenant. Assist people in building the competence and capacity to meet their own personal needs: e.g. personal hygiene, cooking skills, laundry, budgeting, diet and healthy living, sexual health, etc. The ideal candidate for this post will have: Two years’ experience in a similar role. Experience of case management and key working. Experience working with people with addictions including those with mental health issues / dual diagnosis. A third-level degree in a relevant field. A non-judgemental understanding of addiction. A belief in the potential of recovery for people of diverse backgrounds, challenges and personal circumstances. As part of the panel for Casual Multitask Attendant, the MTA will provide cover for vacancies that arise from time-to-time. He / she supports and assists clients in all activities of daily living in line with the needs and wishes of the individual, and as outlined in an agreed care plan. As directed, the MTA supports the provision of a high quality, clean and customer-focused service, including attending to housekeeping, catering, laundry, portering or general duties as assigned. The ideal candidate for this post will have: The ability to ensure that all clients are treated with dignity and respect, and ensures that the welfare of the client is a key consideration at all times. Basic management skills to maintain a clean and tidy environment. The personal competence and capacity to properly discharge the duties of the role. DOWNLOAD RECRUITMENT PACK DOWNLOAD APPLICATION FORM Project Worker - Polish Speaker (Permanent Contract) Purpose of the post: Facilitate people who are sleeping rough or in homeless services (especially people from Central / Eastern Europe) to move into secure, permanent housing at the earliest opportunity, without preconditions for sobriety, treatment compliance or wellness, and with priority given to those experiencing long-term and multiple exclusion homelessness. Support people from Central / Eastern Europe prior to, during, and following their move through key working and case management to build their capacity to meet their goals, address their support needs, and sustain their housing. Some of the key duties of the role include: Work with Cork Simon’s Housing Orientated Support Service (HOSS) including Outreach, Soup Run and Youth Homeless Drug Prevention Project (YHDPP), and with other statutory and voluntary agencies, to identify people experiencing long-term and multiple exclusion homelessness who may benefit from a Housing First approach. Assess the urgency of the person’s housing need by use of agreed tools. Work with the relevant team members to identify suitable options for the person and, where an allocation is possible, accompany the person to view the property. Wherever possible, offer people choices in terms of housing allocations, and honour their decisions and right to self-determination. Communicate with team members, including Team Leader and Head of Housing, to make recommendations around allocations and to advise of any concerns arising. Organise and attend inter-agency meetings as appropriate to support and progress the shared support plan. Work with the person to identify areas for support, which may include: physical and mental health, independent living skills, substance use / addiction support, education, employment and training goals, meaningful use of time, and other issues that impact upon the person’s well-being and housing stability. Provide assistance in form filling, medical card, social welfare benefits, housing entitlements. Provide home visiting (where possible in the context of risk assessment) and carry out practical support as needed to help the person to build independent living skills and coping strategies as needed. Work with Housing Officers to ensure that the person’s housing is of a good and clean standard at move-in and has all essential equipment. Provide the person with an introduction to the property and, if needed, the local area amenities, shop, etc. The ideal candidate for this post will have: Fluency in the Polish language. Fluency in another Eastern / Central European language is desirable. At least 18 months – 2 years’ experience of voluntary / statutory agency working with marginalised groups, e.g. homeless people, prisoners, ex-prisoners, care leavers, travellers. Previous experience of working with homeless people. Experience working with people with addictions, including those with mental health issues / dual diagnosis. A third-level education in a relevant field. Drug and alcohol training. Mental health training. First Aid Training. Personal belief in rights-based housing provision, recovery orientation, Cork Simon’s ethos and the Housing First approach. A non-judgemental understanding of addiction.
